Why Do Kelly Osbourne’s Shoes Look Good Enough to Eat?

Image
Kelly Osbourne shows off her delicious new heels. (Instagram) Kelly Osbourne is embracing summertime … from her head down to her feet! The "Fashion Police star was on hand to celebrate mom-to-be Fergie's baby shower in West Hollywood on Sunday afternoon  and she was one of the sweetest things in the room thanks to her fabulous footwear. "Loving my new ice cream cone jelly heels," the 28-year-old wrote on Instagram before the party, posting a pic of her refreshing fashion statement. The platform heels, which are a design collaboration between Brazilian shoe label Melissa and iconic designer (and harsh fashion critic Karl Lagerfeld, are mostly black matching Osbourne's long-sleeved LBD with a decorative glittery pink single scoop of ice cream on the heel above a wafer cone. Also of note? The plastic shoes are scented. Each pair gives off a fruity fragrance. And they won't melt! Well, anything other than our hearts, that is. Also, unlike an actual ice cream cone,

Ronda Rousey’s ‘Body Issue’ picture immortalized in fan tattooa

Image
UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey posed nude for the cover of ESPN the Magazine's Body Issue in 2012 . One fan was so moved by the picture he had the image turned into a tattoo. There was some artistic license taken with the tattoo, like UFC gloves instead of the body wraps, but it's not a bad likeness of the champ. Here's the big question: Rousey's rival coach on the next season of "The Ultimate Fighter" and opponent at UFC 168, Miesha Tate, posed for the Body Issue this year. Will we see some overzealous fan with Tate body ink next year?

Police: Woman arrested in DC cathedral vandalism

Image
WASHINGTON (AP)  A woman was arrested Monday after green paint was found splattered inside two chapels at the Washington National Cathedral, and police were investigating her in connection with two similar incidents on the National Mall, authorities said. Tian Jiamel, 58, was arrested inside the cathedral shortly after the paint was found and charged with defacing property, police and cathedral officials said. Investigators were hoping to question her about the vandalism on the Mall, including at the Lincoln Memorial, but a language barrier was complicating those efforts, Assistant D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham said soon after the arrest. It was not immediately clear if Jiamel had an attorney. Police believed she was homeless. No motive was given. Green paint was found early Friday morning on the Lincoln Memorial, and symbols were found painted in green later Friday on another statue on the Mall. The Lincoln Memorial was closed temporarily but reopened later Friday. Officials at the

5 fashion items that are worth the splurge and 4 that aren’t

Image
It’s easy to overspend when restocking your closet. To smartly allocate your budget, stick to this rule: “If it’s an item you think will look as good on you in five years, it may be worth spending on,” says Jessie Holeva, editor of TrendHungry.com, a Philadelphia-based fashion site. Not sure which clothes fit the bill? Here are five pieces to invest in, and four you should buy inexpensively“You can pretty much wear it with anything,” says Holevaand in any season. The versatile piece tops a flowing dress and feminine blouse as well as it pairs  with jeans. Low-quality leather can tear and get discolored easily, so getting a high-quality jacket, which starts at about $300, is worth the investment. Pick a neutral color, such as black or brown, in a classic style. A short one with a tailored collar won’t look dated after a few years, explains Holeva. Consider long-lasting lambskin jackets, which look shiny and feel soft. While shelling out on what’s underneath seems like a waste, a bra is

Good-natured Rex Ryan takes photo with Jets fan wearing ‘This team makes me drink’ shirt

Image
CORTLAND, N.Y. – A chance meeting between a New York Jets fan and coach Rex Ryan showed that even though Ryan is facing the pressure of a season on the hot seat, he still has a sense of humor. On Saturday night following the second day of training camp, Ryan and his coaching staff went out to enjoy the nightlife of Cortland, N.Y. and bumped into Joseph Grinwis, a lifelong Jets fan. When Grinwis strolled up to Ryan around midnight on Saturday night to ask for a photo, he wasn’t sure how his T-shirt would be handled by the head coach of his long-suffering team. His shirt simply said: “This Team Makes Me Drink.” “I was a little bit ‘Oh no’ inside. I mean, the one night I’m wearing this shirt, you know?” said Grinwis, who made the trip from Wantage Township, N.J., more than a three-hour drive from upstate New York, to watch training camp. “But he was cool with it. Maybe he wasn’t on the inside but he seemed cool with it.” Ryan referenced the trip to downtown Cortland during his Sunday pre

Wow! Christina Aguilera Reveals Dramatic Beauty Makeunder

Image
Christina Aguilera is back! All eyes were on the 32-year-old "Your Body" singer when she appeared at an NBC press event in Beverly Hills on Saturday to promote her big return to "The Voice." Not only was the show mentor showing off her slim, trim new frame, which there has been buzz about in recent months, but she also unveiled a serious style makeunder.Wearing a curve-accentuating pink minidress with a flirty ruffled bottom, Aguilera looked like she did in her early days. The subtle, natural look (including her barely there makeup!) was a departure from how we've come to expect her on the reality series. There were no rhinestones, bustiers, hotpants, spiked berets, or other attention-grabbing fashions which have become part of her signature style on "The Voice." Just a beautiful, fresh-faced Aguilera, looking tanned, toned, rested, and ready for Season 5. This isn't the first inkling we've had that her return (after sitting out Season 4) will

Egypt warns sit-ins as weekend death toll climbs

Image
CAIRO (AP)  Egypt's interior minister on Sunday pledged to deal decisively with any attempts to destabilize the country, a thinly veiled warning to supporters of ousted President Mohammed Morsi occupying two squares in Cairo in a month-long stand-off with the security forces. The warning came as authorities said that the death toll in weekend clashes between Mohammed Morsi's Islamist backers and security forces near one of those sit-ins had reached 72, in the deadliest single outbreak of violence since the July 3 military coup. "I assure the people of Egypt that the police are determined to maintain security and safety to their nation and are capable of doing so," Mohammed Ibrahim told a graduation ceremony at the national police academy. "We will very decisively deal with any attempt to undermine stability," said Ibrahim, who is in charge of the police.Ibrahim's comments added pressure on Morsi's backers three weeks after the Islamist president was

Fashion Faceoff: Selena Gomez vs. Kourtney Kardashian

Image
When they wore it: The reality star rocked her studded sandals during a lunch date with her daughter, Penelope, at Taberna in Los Angeles on July 13. The "Come & Get It" singer stepped out in her fashionable footwear as she left a Burbank studio with her Starbucks in hand on July 21. How they styled it: Selena kept her look casual with a pair of black shorts, a white T-shirt, a boho chic bag, and blown out locks. The mother of two rocked similar bottoms, but polished off her outfit with a green and black check blouse, an oversized diaper bag, and cat-eye sunglasses. [Related: Fashion Faceoff: Britney Spears vs. Taylor Swift] Judge's scorecard: While Kardashian scores points for dressing up the look with a little color (and toting a cute kiddo!), the sandals are enough of a statement piece that they don't need to be fussed with. Do you agree?

Eid Ul Fiter Shopping For 2013

Image
During Ramadan, shopping for Eid in the walled quarter of Hyderabad does not end with the night. In fact, it picks up at night with the centuries-old markets doing business round-the-clock. As such, with only a couple of days left for Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the culmination of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, all roads in the city are now leading to shops, hotels, roadside eateries and the ubiquitous vendors around Charminar, the symbol of Hyderabad and the hub of Eid shopping. In fact, the old city and some Muslim-majority areas in the central part of the city never sleep during the holy month. While the faithful spend the holy nights in prayers, other men, women and children throng the markets for Eid shopping. As one crosses the Musi river to enter the old city, the aroma of haleem (a Ramadan dish of meat, wheat flour, spices and ghee) wafts in. The numerous hotels at Madina Junction and on the High Court Road do brisk business selling haleem, said to have come to Hyderabad via Iran a

Unsealed birth records give adoptees peek at past

Image
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) Maura Duffy spent a day in Chicago last September with her mother: A walk along Lake Michigan, shared meals, a boat tour highlighting Second City architecture. But this was no typical mother-daughter outing. It was the first time the two women had ever met. Since a handful of states, including Illinois, have unsealed birth certificates, thousands of adoptees have claimed them and learned about their beginnings. The 35-year-old Duffy, adopted at birth, is among 8,800 Illinois residents since 2010 to do so. Not everyone who gets the document goes on a search. But for many, it's led to heart-rending reunions. "I finally got to see and meet someone who looked exactly like me," said Duffy, a marketing professional. "It's a very kind of emotional, strange thing that you grow up your whole life and don't ever know anything about your background. And it's the first chapter of your life, that birth certificate." NASA has received more than 400 proposals from private companies, non-profit groups and international organizations in response to a call for asteroid-retrieval mission suggestions released last month, agency officials announced Friday (July 26). The space agency will review the submissions over the next month and plan to discuss the most promising ideas in a public workshop in September. We are really excited about the overwhelming response," NASA Deputy Administrator Lori Garver told reporters here at the NewSpace 2013 conference, adding that the ideas were "overwhelmingly positive.NASA put out an official request for information on June 18 to seek input on how to achieve its asteroid retrieval mission. Great white shark tagging expedition said to be most ambitious in U.S. history

Image
Imagine a world in which people can keep tabs on all of the large great white sharks that roam the world’s oceans.Lots more would be learned about apex predators that, by and large, remain mysterious. While tht day may never come, scientists are getting closer, and this week a group called OCEARCH has announced that it will embark on the most ambitious tagging project in U.S. history. OCEARCH, led by Chris Fischer and Greg Skomal, on Tuesday will embark on a month-long expedition off Cape Cod, during which it plans to capture, tag, and release as many as 20 great white sharksDuring the tagging process, a team of scientists will take samples and conduct other studies they say will help answer a lot of unknowns.    It’s hoped that more knowledge will help scientists pursue greater protections in areas the sharks frequent. On the West Coast, different scientists have determined that many adult white sharks that gather seasonally at seal rookeries off California and at Mexico’s Guadalup

Musician JJ Cale dies; wrote Clapton, Skynyrd hits

Image
If musicians were measured not by the number of records they sold but by the number of peers they influenced, JJ Cale would have been a towering figure in 1970s rock 'n' roll. His best songs like "After Midnight,Cocaine and "Call Me the Breeze" were towering hits for other artists. Eric Clapton took "After Midnight" and Cocain and turned them into the kind of hard-party anthems that defined rock for a long period of time. And Lynyrd Skynyrd took the easy-shuffling "Breeze" and supercharged it with a three-guitar attack that made it a hit. Cale, the singer-songwriter and producer known as the main architect of the Tulsa Sound, passed away Friday night at Scripps Hospital in La Jolla, Calif. His manager, Mike Kappus, said Cale died of a heart attack. He was 74.While his best known songs remain in heavy rotation on the radio nearly 40 years later, most folks wouldn't be able to name Cale as their author. That was a role he had no problem with

Study Finds Only 28 Percent of Millionaires Think They're Rich

Image
If you had investments worth a million dollars, would you consider yourself rich? How about $5 million? Well, hold on to your wallet because a new study has found that the majority of millionaires don't consider themselves rich According to a study from investment bank UBS, entitled "What is Wealthy?," 40 percent of those with $5 million in investable assets said they didn't feel they were rich. And only 28 percent of investors who had between $1 and $5 million in investable assets viewed themselves as rich. "To us, the surprise was that that many people with $1 million or more did not consider themselves wealthy," said Emily Pachuta, head of investor insights at UBS Wealth Management Americas. "We think it shows a very interesting mindset shift. People have certainly experienced a shock from the volatility of the market, and they are very aware that it takes a significant amount of money to have that dual feeling of having enough money and no financia

Gone batty: David Ortiz ejected after arguing balls and strikes, destroys bullpen phone

Image
Boston Red Sox designed hitter David Ortiz officially flipped his lid on Saturday night. After striking out in the seventh inning against Jairo Asencio, Ortiz turned his attention to home plate umpire Tim Timmons to argue a 3-0 strike call earlier in the at-bat. To Timmons' credit, he let Ortiz show him up by pointing to his helmet  indicating he felt the pitch in question was too high  and give him an earful all the way back to the dugout without reacting. In most cases, Ortiz's actions constitute an immediate ejection, but Timmons was willing to move on had he dropped his case peacefully. Instead, Ortiz went bonkers and ended up smashing the bullpen phone in the visiting dugout at Camden Yards into smithereens with his bat (see: 1:22 in the video). Ortiz's violent meltdown didn't really fall under the entertainment category. It was actually very dangerous and a little scary as shrapnel from the bat and phone flew all over the dugout. In fact, some of the shrapnel near

At the church where Lindsey Stewart and Brian Bond, both 30, would have been married Aug. 10, the pastor said their lives "were filled with hopes and dreams, and that has been snuffed away." Stewart, Bond, Lennon and three others were on a speedboat that crashed Friday night into a barge holding eq

Adrian Peterson says he wants HGH testing in NFL to show he is clean

Image
It's hard, in this era of steroids, human growth hormone and whatever else athletes are using to enhance their performance, to not be skeptical of Adrian Peterson and what he did last season. He suffered a bad knee injury late in the 2011 season, and less than a year later he rushed for more than 2,000 yards and almost broke Eric Dickerson's record. He looked even better than he did before his ACL surgery, and he has been pretty good ever since we took notice of him when he was at Oklahoma
